Rollin’ in a 5.0?

Seems like Ford is going to bring back the 5.0 liter engine. There, of course, have been rumors of this for ages, but it seems like Ford is really doing it. Reportedly, the 2011 Mustang and F-150 will be the first to get the new engine, that is estimated to achieve numbers around 400hp and 400lbft.

The V8 will be a four valve per cylinder setup, which I naturally assume means it will also be dual over head cam. Likely, the engine will just be a modified version of the 4.6 DOHC that was in the last-gen Corba and Mercury Marauder. But I don’t know any specifics.

I post this because the 5.0 name  is a little dear to my heart. While this new engine is a far different beast then the one I owned, the name gives memories. Granted, my 5.0 was a 1989 Crown Victoria (aka the slowest V8 ever), but it was still a cool car. Too bad Ford axed the Vic, a new 5.0 (with 400hp) version would have been cool.

Low end torque!!!!! (probably not though)
